Safety barriers can let UK businesses ride renewable energy wave

Guardrails

Safety barriers can keep your operations safe if you’re a non-power business trying to capitalise on the opportunities presented by renewable energy.
Opus Energy, a business-to-business energy supplier, recently conducted research showing how many British firms plan to introduce on-site renewable energy generation – and how many have already done so.
The survey found 15% of companies now have some form of on-site energy generation, up from 6% in 2011, and including one in five SME owners over the age of 55.
A further 39% expect to add renewable power generation to their sites in the future, 48% of whom plan to do so in the next two years.
Common methods of on-site energy generation include anaerobic digestion, wind turbines, hydropower and, of course, solar panels – and it is when solar or wind installations are on the rooftop that safety barriers become almost essential.
Add them and you not only protect your maintenance staff, but also protect your investment into the equipment by making sure you can safely keep it working at its best.
With 28% of firms citing energy self-sufficiency as a driving force behind their uptake of renewable power, and 23% hoping to profit – perhaps by selling power back to the grid – it is clear that protecting the initial investment is a good means by which to pave the way towards a long-term positive return
