Edge protection and safety barriers may have helped roofers earn awards

Guardrails

Relatively simple measures including the installation of safety barriers and edge protection may have helped to boost the number of awards given out over recent months by the NFRC.
The organisation – the National Federation of Roofing Contractors – has already held annual general meetings in regions throughout the UK.
On May 17th, over 600 guests from throughout the industry convened in London for the eighth annual Roofing Awards.
Categories awarded included pitched, flat, metal and sustainable roofs, along with individual awards for Health & Safety Champion, which went to Stephen Huitson, and Safety in Roofing Awards for flat, tiled and industrial roofing installers.
The Safety in Roofing Awards particularly recognise those with a commitment to safety in each individual roofing discipline, and regular use of measures such as safety barriers and edge protection can help to demonstrate such commitment.
“”A high number of gold, silver and bronze awards were presented to members at the regional annual general meetings earlier this year,”” the NFRC adds.
The roofing industry is clearly widely committed to using appropriate safety measures – making edge protection an important investment not only to protect those who need to access the roof, but also to remain competitive with other roofing contractors.
