What is a Top Hopper Rubbish Chute and why is it used?

A Top Hopper Rubbish Chute is the first section of any chute system and is installed at the uppermost roof or floor level. Its wide open top allows debris to be safely loaded into the chute while acting as a protective barrier to prevent material from falling outside the system.

What sizes of Top Hopper Chutes are available?

Top Hopper Chutes are available in three standard sizes:

  • 20 inch: 500 mm top, 400 mm bottom, 1100 mm height
  • 22 inch: 560 mm top, 500 mm bottom, 1200 mm height
  • 30 inch: 760 mm top, 700 mm bottom, 1200 mm height

These sizes match corresponding chute sections to create a complete disposal system.

How should Top Hopper Chutes be installed?

The chute system must always begin with a Top Hopper, the 20" Top Hopper does not come with any chains this simply sits in the first chutes section. The 22" & 30" come with the support carabina wires these must hang upwards and must be attached securely to a suitable structure. Top Hoppers are used together with support frames or winch units, and accessories such as reinforced Y sections and window frames to ensure a safe, stable installation and operation.
