Edge protection is an important part of protecting those employed in the European roofing products sector – the biggest regional market for that category of goods in the world.
A new Research and Markets report ranks Europe as the world’s biggest region for roofing products, with a 35.5% share of all sales.
Environmentally friendly roofing – a segment we have singled out several times for mention – is identified as “”an emerging trend, with a potential to stand out as an independent industry””.
With more and more green roofs and solar panels being installed, we have always said that edge protection will become more important to allow maintenance workers to have access to the roof.
The Research and Markets report suggests that commercial and ‘institutional’ buildings are driving demand forwards for eco-friendly roofs.
As such, safety barriers on these kinds of premises could be particularly important – especially where external contractors will need to be brought in to carry out routine maintenance.
But even in domestic settings, safety barriers can add much-needed protection to any roof areas that need to be regularly accessed, whether by the homeowner, or by contracted workmen.
